macOS Monterey 12.5.1 Update

macOS Monterey 12.5.1 is now Available.

UPDATED: 08/22

The 12.5.1 update is the eighth overall for macOS Monterey. The previous update 12.5, was released just under a month ago. Let’s jump in and find out what’s new in this update.

Apple’s description of the 12.5.1 update:

This update is recommended for all users and improves the security of macOS.

That means that this update is focused around security and not bug fixes or new features.

UPDATE #1: Apple has just released Safari 15.6.1 for Big Sur and Catalina that patches the WebKit CVE-2022-32893 vulnerability! The only unknown is the Kernel exploit CVE-2022-32894.

UPDATE #2: If you are looking for the 12.5.1 full installer >

Finding available software

Software Update found the following full installers:

* Title: macOS Monterey, Version: 12.5.1, Size: 12114929KiB, Build: 21G83

* Title: macOS Monterey, Version: 12.5.1, Size: 12114929KiB, Build: 21G83

2 are listed but are the same version and hash. I’m not sure why Apple did this or if it was a mistake.
