macOS Monterey 12.2.1 is now available!

Apple just released its 1st minor update to macOS Monterey. Let’s jump in and find out what’s new in this update!

Quick Summary

  1. macOS 12.2.1 provides important security updates and fixes an issue for Intel-based Mac computers that may cause the battery to drain during sleep when connected to Bluetooth peripherals.
  2. Apple just released a security document with one CVE. CVE-2022-22620 – Impact: Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited.
  3. Full installer and M1 IPSW Restore file released.
  4. Safari 15.3 (17612.4.9.1.8) is included in the 12.2.1 update. Apple also Released Safari 15.3 for macOS Big Sur & macOS Catalina (v. 16612.4.9.1.8 and 15612.4.9.1.8)

7. macOS Monterey Update sizes for Intel and M1

Monterey Delta Update

The delta update will automatically change in size for exactly what your macOS version needs.

  • Full update with size 11.3 GB
  • Delta from macOS Monterey 12.0.1 (21A559) with size 2.4 GB
  • Delta from macOS Monterey 12.1 (21C52) with size 1.9 GB
  • Delta from macOS Monterey 12.2 (21D48) with size 1.1 GB

Monterey Combo Update

The “Combo Update” has been replaced by an automatic sized update. This means if you are updating from an version of monterey, you will get an update that includes only the files that you need.
