macOS Monterey 12.5 Update (21G72)! What’s New?

The macOS Monterey 12.5 Update is now Available.

UPDATED: 07/23

The 12.5 update is the seventh overall for macOS Monterey. The previous update 12.4, was released two months ago. Let’s jump in and find out what’s new in this update.

NOTE: The 12.5 public release is the same build version as 12.5 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) 21G72.

WARNING for OpenCore Legacy Patcher Monterey Users!!!!

If you have one of the following Macs DO NOT update to 12.5.

  • MacBookPro9,1
  • MacBookPro10,1
  • MacBookPro11,3
  • iMac13,x (units with dGPUs)
  • iMac14,x (units with dGPUs)
  • OR IF YOU UPGRADED YOUR GPU TO KEPLER in your iMac or Mac Pro!

Apple changed something and the Kepler GPU patches are not working correctly now. For now stay on 12.4 until more information comes in.

Quick Summary

  1. Enhancements – TV app adds the option to restart a live sports game already in-progress and pause, rewind, or fast-forward
  2. Bug fixes – Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may revert back to a previous page.
  3. Security Updates – 50 security vulnerabilities patched!
  4. Full installer and M1 IPSW – Full installer & M1 IPSW file are now available for download.
  5. Safari – Version 15.6 (17613.3.9.1.5) is included in the 12.5 update. For Big Sur and Catalina, Safari 15.6 is available as a separate download.
  6. Xcode – none
  7. Apple Studio Display Update – No update this round.

Big Sur is now in Security Update mode. Apple still fixes previous update bugs & major issues in Big Sur and Catalina updates, but usually only address security issues.

On July 11th, Apple released a public beta for iOS & Ventura! The new build number for Ventura is (22A5295i). A full installer & IPSW was also released.

Apple just released macOS Ventura Beta 3, let’s jump in and find out what’s new.

Apple has added a new feature to iOS, iPadOS and Ventura – Lockdown Mode!

Photos was also added a new feature called iCloud‌ Shared Photo Library. You can now share photos with your family members.
