  1. Hi Mr. Macintosh,

I was succesful installing Big Sur on my MacBook Pro 2009, however I found interesting thing.
Before update graphic accelerator it was ok, the graphic was good, the only downside is slow on processing, and then after update the graphic becomes pixellate, specially on control center part.
Perhaps the driver that came with Big Sur installation is much better?

Do I need to redo the patch again?

Thanks a lot for sharing this information, it can really help anyone out there with their obsolete MacBook.

  2. Hi Mr Macintosh, I have tried multiple times to upgrade my 2013 iMac (not supported) to 11.4 and it keeps coming up with an error whilst writing to the disk. I have used 4 different USB sticks two completely new with no help. the error message is;
    Error 1×252
    Message: “Password:Erasing disk: 0%… 10%…
Error erasing disk error number (-69888, 0)
An error occurred erasing the disk.”
    Output: “”
Is there anything else you can recommend to get around this error?
Thank you for your great work with these updates, really appreciated.
    Regards, Peter

    1. Spotlight has a hold on the USB and will not let it unmount. pull the usb and plug it in again then try. or reboot and quickly try to perform the erase again.

  3. MacBook Air (M1, 2020),version 11.1 (20C69)
Downloaded update 11.4 twice at final check when download is complete it says download error and returns back to the avail update check previously downloaded files dismissed and all starts from 0%.Any idea what to do with it?

  4. After update from 11.13.1 to 11.14, patch kexts show errors and wiFi still not working
    —–Error 1×1
Message: “–2012 patches only contains WiFI patches, however no WiFi patches were requested/are needed.”
Output: “Welcome to PatchKexts.sh (for Patched Sur)!

    what should I do

  5. 11.4 on my M1 MacBook Pro disabled my ability to use an external monitor. Warning to others.

    1. Hello! Did you find any solution? External monitors no more working for me on my M1 MacBook Air after updating to macOS 11.4

  6. Is it possible to download the update and apply it later? I’d like to download it at my office and the apply the update when I get home.

      1. I dug a bit deeper and found the options. Very cool. I had never heard of this tool. One question though, where does it store updates? /library/updates maybe?

        1. New location on big sur is

          /System/Library/AssetsV2/com_apple_MobileAsset_MacSoftwareUpdate

A folder is created in that update folder when an update is downloaded.

  7. We can upgrade from Catalina to Big Sur 11.4 using this installer, right ? I have enough space on my disk.

  8. Did anyone test 6900 xt with eGPU on MacOS 11.4 ?
I tried one Sapphire Nitro+ with a Razer Core X chroma but the system does not seem to detect the video cart.

    1. My bad, it actually works like a charm, no problem running 6900 xt Sapphire Nitro+ with Razer Core X chroma on MacOS 11.4.

  9. my Mac book Pro 15-inch,Mid2012
    2.3Ghz Quad-core intel Corei7
    after update Big Sur 11.4
    airplay,facetime are not working
please help me what to do

  10. I think your title for number 13 is wrong, it lists 11.3.1 but should be 11.4? Also where you do get this info about the enterprise changes? My organization has had some issues with DNS intermittently failing and I am curious to learn more about the “DNS lookups no longer fail when using an authenticated proxy or a proxy PAC file.”
