macOS Sequoia 15.3 Update is now Available!

Apple just dropped the 3rd Major release for Sequoia, macOS Sequoia 15.3 Update! Let’s jump in and find out what’s new.

This update adds Genmoji creation in Messages and other apps plus introduces changes around how Apple Intelligence is enabled. Staring in Sequoia 15.3, Apple Intelligence is enabled by default in the setup assistant. Take a closer look at the macOS Sequoia Enterprise notes for more details.

OS Loader Version (iBoot) also referred to as “iBoot second-stage loader”, is Apple’s stage 2 bootloader. The OS loader version will be the same as the “System Firmware Version” on the latest OS. On previous versions of macOS Monterey and Big Sur, the OS loader version will be a version behind. Example = Monterey = 7459.121.3 & Big Sur = 6723.140.2

11. What’s new for Enterprise in macOS 15.3

Enterprise changes in macOS Sequoia

  • 1. Apple Intelligence is turned on automatically after updating to macOS 15.3 or during device setup unless MDM skips the Apple Intelligence setup pane.
  • 2. MDM can require sign-in from a specified Workspace ID for requests to external intelligence integrations such as ChatGPT.
  • 3. MDM can disable transcription summarization in Notes.
  • 4. AirPlay connects successfully when using the built-in firewall and a content filter extension.
  • 5. Improves stability for apps over VPN connections when using the built-in firewall and a content filter extension.

13. macOS Sequoia 15.3 Update Release Notes

This update introduces Genmoji, powered by Apple Intelligence, and also includes other enhancements, bug fixes, and security updates for your Mac.

1. Genmoji creation in Messages and other apps

2. Calculator repeats the last mathematical operation when you click the equals sign again

3. Easily manage settings for notification summaries from the Lock Screen (Mac with Apple silicon)

4. Updated style for summarized notifications better distinguishes them from other notifications by using italicized text as well as the glyph (Mac with Apple silicon)

5. Notification summaries for News & Entertainment apps are temporarily unavailable, and users who opt-in will see them again when the feature becomes available (Mac with Apple silicon)
