macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 Update Everything You Need to Know!

macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 is now Available!

UPDATED: 11/21/24

This article will be continually updated as new information comes in.

Apple just released the 2nd minor point release for macOS Sequoia! Let’s jump in and find out what’s new.

Apple’s update notes list the following “This update provides important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”

NOTE (UPDATE 9:00PM This issue is fixed!!!) If you are trying to restore macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 on Apple Silicon you will get an error. “The System cannot be restored on this device” This is due to Apple not uploading the proper decryption keys.

Affected versions: Sequoia 15.1.1 (24B91) & (24B2091) M4 visionOS 2.1.1 (22N591) 1. Restore Sequoia 15.1.1 IPSW 2. Create a Sequoia 15.1.1 VM 3. Restore visionOS 2.1.1 IPSW

Also updated was Safari 18.1.1 (20619.2.8.11.12). This version is included in the macOS Sequoia 15.1.1 Update. Version 18.1.1 is also available as a standalone update for macOS Sonoma and Ventura.

6. Apple Silicon System Firmware Version

This update has a new firmware update. The version number is reported in System Information under “System Firmware Version

OS Loader Version (iBoot) also referred to as “iBoot second-stage loader”, is Apple’s stage 2 bootloader. The OS loader version will be the same as the “System Firmware Version” on the latest OS. On previous versions of macOS Monterey and Big Sur, the OS loader version will be a version behind. Example = Monterey = 7459.121.3 & Big Sur = 6723.140.2
