1. So, I if I did not update with the security update 2021-001, but now there is a 2021-002 out for Mojave…am I safe to just download the installer from Apple downloads and run? No need to run 2021-001 first?

2. I have installed Safari update 14.0.3 and it corrected the bug that prevented using the website attach button from working. Any update on Security Update 2021-001 for Mojave? I do not see a direct download link yet on Apple Downloads and only appears in Software Update.

   1. Yes, I’ve just installed that too, a bit nervous at first but hurray, fixed the attachment problem with Yahoo and Gmail…

3. So a bunch of our users (including myself) issues with TimeZones completely being removed from our computers. Anyone else experiencing this? Only solution we’ve found is reload the computers to fix this issue. Tried every command or removal of symbolic links to fix this but nothing seems to recover this.

Yes Alan, was a bit of a shock to lose my attachment ability with Yahoo and Gmail unless I use Chrome..the other clumsy way is to open Finder and drag and drop to the email..that works..but staggered that Apple still haven’t provided an update for Safari 14.0.2, it’s been months now! Really slack Apple!

   1. I’ve read on the Apple Forums that those on the beta program say Safari 14.0.3b fixes. I waited and stayed at 14.0 for along time (which works fine), but eventually updated to 14.0.2 just to catch up on the security fixes of 14.0.1 and 14.0.2. I didn’t take the option to reinstall 10.14.6 and update all the way just before Safari 14.X just because it seemed silly to do all that work. I’ve used another browser in the short term when I need to attach (but drag and drop still works in the broken Safari).

   2. So, first it was the inability to do attachments to e-mail messages (now, thankfully, fixed), but now I find that the latest Safari update (14.0.3) apparently won’t implement changes I make to unblock popups from certain preferred websites.

      I click a link on the main page of a site, get the message “Your browser is currently blocking third party cookies” (not surprising as I’ve blocked most popups by default). However, when I go to Safari > Preferences > Websites > Current Blockers and turn blocking to OFF for the selected site, its popups still don’t work. Same thing if I select “Settings for This Website…” from the Safari dropdown menu and clear the “Enable content blockers” checkbox. Is anyone else experiencing this Firefox-boosting problem?

5. I use Firefox 84, still have daily T2/BridgeOS crashes.

   I am photosensitive and need to block a lot of web animation and other standard web design, to avoid injury. So I don’t think I can use Safari.

   1. Also using MacOS 10.14.6 on a 2018 Mac Mini.

      Because Migration Assistant wouldn’t work with the smaller internal drive, and wouldn’t let me the system on the internal drive and everything else on the external, I run from an external USB-C drive.

      Because of software compatibility issues, have to keep using Mojave.

6. On my Mac Mini 2018, with Mojave 10.14.6 that I own since March 2020, I have updated the Security Update 2020-007 and Safari 14.0.2. All seems to work fin. Finally the Kernel Crash Report that appeared only after using Safari and doing a shutdown and a cold-boot does not appear anymore. Since I stopped using Safari as my regular browser I can not confirm the issue with G-Mail upload. It is incredible how long it took to solve this problem, that I had since April 2020. The result is, that I now mainly use Firefox or Chrome in stead of Safari.

7. Another issue with 2020-006 was that on Mojave, VMWare Fusion 11.5.7 did not work anymore (trying to open a birtual machine only displayed error messages) – and VMWare 12 only works on Catalina or Big Sur.
   Has this problem be fixed by 2020-007?

   1. Bernard,

      I haven’t experienced any issues with VMWare Fusion 11.5.7 and Mojave 2020-007 Security Update. I am able to start, shutdown and run multiple macOS VMs e.g. 10.13, 10.14, 10.15, CentOS and Windows just fine. I hope this helps.

         1. Bernard, I don’t have information about 2020-005 and 006 Security Update. I have upgraded from Mojave 2020-004 Security Update to Mojave 2020-007 Security Update, thanks to Mr. Macintosh’s wonderful blog!

9. I am currently running Mojave 10.14.6 and Safari 12.1.2 on my 2013 Mac Computer….

   Was advised to update to 2020-007 and Mac Supplemental update 10.14.6 and Safari 14.01 and 14.02

   After downloading these updates, I was unable to attach files to my Yahoo/Gmail emails..Apple told me to re install Mojave, which I did and subsequently was able to attach files to my emails…But as soon as I was flagged with another Mojave security update 2020-007 10.14.6 etc I once again unable to attach emails…After re installing Mojave once again, everything works, but I won’t be installing the same update again…Is there a problem with these updates as Apple won’t give me an answer…

    1. Yes! Click the apple > about this mac > system report > Installations will show you all the previous updates. (you are currently up to date with 18G6016)

11. Thanks for sharing. I have upgraded from Mojave 2020-004 Security Update to Mojave 2020-007 Security Update on a MacPro5,1. It’s been running fine for 11 days without any issues. Thanks to this article I have saved a lot of time and hassle. For now I keep ignoring Safari 14.0.1, Safari 14.0.2 and two macOS Supplemental Updates 10.14.6 which includes Safari 14. Attaching files is essential to me. So, hopefully Apple will release a Safari 14.0.3 fix soon.

    1. As an FYI, Safari 14.0 is fine and didn’t have the issue. I believe one of those supplemental updates was in reality just Safari v14.0 with a fix for the original release of Safari 14 (MacOS Supplemental Update?)

       1. Correct, the (MacOS Supplemental Update) was just the fixed version of safari 14.0

12. So, I installed security update 2020-007 but never installed Safari 14.0.1 and Safari 14.0.2 and have been holding at Safari 14.0 (which still works). I’ve never seen once version of Safari required to install a later version, but in 3 different MBA’s running 10.14.6 BOTH Safari versions are listed as needing installed.
    1.) Am I missing any crucial security updates to Safari by holding off and staying at 14.0?
    2.) If I decide to install, is it best to do both at the same time or install one and reboot and install the other.
    3.) Is it likely we will see a v 14.0.3 that replaces both and only requires one install?

    1. You bet Darren.

       The short answer is yes, you are missing out on security fixes by staying on 14.0. I tested making the jump straight to 14.0.2 from 14.0 and it works. After the update is complete the 14.0.1 update will disappear. It’s possible that 14.0.3 will fix the issue but we will have to wait to find out.

       1. Thank you for that advice. So even with the introduced uploading but, to ensure security is at it’s best, I should go ahead and update Safari. If I need that upload feature, I always have a secondary browser to fall back on. Is this the way to go?

          1. The other workaround is to drag the file over to the window where you need to upload the file, let me know if this works!

             1. Ok. Will do the updates shortly. It sounds like the patches in Safari 14.0.1 and 14.0.2 are important enough to offset the introduced bug? Would that be your thoughts as well?

                1. In addition, I see that for those of us who did not install either 14.0.1 or 14.0.2 and had BOTH showing as needed, only 14.0.2 now shows.

             2. RE: the inability to upload mail attachments etc: Whether the drag-and-drop workaround works will depend on how the receiving site is designed: Works in Yahoo mail, but not Hotmail, for example. I had the same system setup as Jeremy Rose (12/31 post), and the inability to upload attachments began right after I installed Security Update 2020-007. I just now updated Safari to 14.0.2 (on Mojave 10.14.6) in the hopes of fixing this, but no luck.

                Does installing Catalina or Big Sur bypass this upload issue with Safari? Otherwise, I feel like reverting to Safari 14.0.0, or 13.x even!
